Music•Musique NB (MNB) celebrates the innovation and the creativity of the New Brunswick music industry, with its list of nominees for the 2023 Prix MNB Awards. Leading the pack with four nominations each are Baie, One8tea and Stephen Hero.
Not far behind with three nominations are 7AO (pronounced tae-ō followed), Dee Hernandez, Émilie Landry, and Marc McLaughlin.
Both the Recording of the Year and Enregistrement de l'année categories feature a wide variety of nominees, recognizing albums in a mix of genre, including Classical, Country, Folk, Hip-Hop, Punk, Traditional, Rock, and much more. Since 2019, the MNB Board of Directors has eliminated the "genre" categories, in order to better recognize the quality of music being created in New Brunswick, regardless of genre.
"We are proud of the work that has been done by our team," says Eva George, president of MNB. "They are consistently trying to ensure that multiple voices are heard during the evaluation process. By having fewer categories, we are able to assign more jurors per category and select jurors from varying backgrounds and preferred musical genre."
The Prix MNB Awards Show will take place in the Bernard-LeBlanc Hall at the Aberdeen Cultural Centre (Moncton) on October 19, 2023. The Awards show kicks off the in-person portion of Semaine MNB, taking place in Moncton until October 21, 2023.
