Judie Acquin
MNB Board Member/The Hello Crows
Judie Acquin can be described as a Creative Practitioner who is from and lives in Ekpahak (Fredericton). She is the Studio Head for the Wabanaki Visual Art program at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and has a private studio practice. As a Wolasotqey artist her practice is an inclusive approach to respectful knowledge sharing, while focusing on cultural needs and Indigenous ways of knowing. Judie is also a vocalist/percussionist for The Hello Crows. The Hello Crows are recognized as a Wabanaki storytelling music group that shares Indigenous experience and truth. In 2023, the New Brunswick Lieutenant Governor recognized Judie and awarded her the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for her role in Indigenous Education. While having a deep appreciation for being an agent of change in transformative education, she is also a current member of MNB Board and ArtsNB Circle of Elders. Judie enjoys travelling, and spending time with her family and friends outside of her professional practices.
