Hannah Kennedy
Spirit Song Festival
Hannah Kennedy is an Inuk from Nunatsiavut, and is a programming specialist at First Light Friendship Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. In this role, she has worked as a key player in the vision, mission, and programming in Arts and Recreation initiatives for the Urban Indigenous community of St. John’s. Her main projects include Spirit Song Festival, Orange Shirt Day, National Indigenous People’s Day, weekly community programs, and special partnerships like the 2025 Canada Summer Games. She is passionate about Inuit representation, cultural preservation, and creating innovative ways for Indigenous peoples to showcase their talents, celebrate their cultures, and foster community connections. Hannah is committed to supporting and uplifting Indigenous voices through art, recreation, lands based activities, and collaboration.

Spirit Song Festival is a celebration of Indigenous Arts and Culture that has been running annually in St. John’s since 2013. Spirit Song has now grown into a multi-day event which boasts world class performances, traditional and contemporary knowledge sharing events as well as artist in residence series.
Spirit Song aims to support and promote Indigenous artists, strengthen our sense of community, as well as provide an opportunity for the greater public to experience the incredible work created by Indigenous artists from across Canada.
