On March 23rd, join entertainment lawyer, Matt Gorman, for a discussion on the legal basics around recording a cover song and sharing it with the world. Session starts at noon and will be via Zoom. Presented by: Matt Gorman is Counsel at Cox & Palmer’s Halifax office and focuses his practice on entertainment law, intellectual property more generally, and corporate/commercial transactions, with an emphasis on music and talent advocacy. His clients range from award winning performers, songwriters and producers, to managers, social media influencers, and indie music publishers and record labels. Matt has extensive experience drafting and negotiating entertainment contracts of all kinds. Heavily involved in the music community, Matt is an elected member of Music Nova Scotia’s Board of Directors, a frequent writer, lecturer and speaker on music related legal issues at conferences and events all over the country, and is a member of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers. Matt also operates Ocean Town Music, which provides business advisory and management services to music and entertainment clients across Canada and the United States. Matt was a musician long before becoming a lawyer. Outside the office, Matt loves to play drums, piano, and guitar.
